The
honorees in all of the categories of induction
have had a significant impact on international
culture and the Dance Music Hall of Fame serves
to recognize creators of dance music and its
historical impact. Board of Director member
Tom Silverman
capitalizes the objective of this hip not
for profit organization best as he states,
“The Dance Music Hall of Fame exists to recognize
the influence and impact that dance music
artists, records, DJs, producers and remixers
have had on music world wide. The 25 year
eligibility requirement allows us to identify
not only record sales but lasting impact and
influence on future creators. Dance Music
has been a genre that been greatly overlooked
by the media especially in America since its
inception but there is no denying the impact
that the DJ has had on music.”
The
Board of Directors also includes Daniel
Glass, Eddie
O'Loughlin and John
Parker and its Board of Advisors is
a who's who in dance music. Says, Executive
Director, Catherine
R. Laporte, "We are very excited
that we have kept the Dance Music Hall of
Fame Induction Awards Gala in New York City
and we invite music lovers from around the
globe to attend the event this year! In addition
to the presentation of our honors we have
very special performances scheduled that any
fan of “The Class of 2005” will not want to
miss! Also, for the first time in over 25
years, the "original" members of
The Trammps will come together on our Induction
night stage! Special performances will be
announced in the coming weeks. It is going
to be a magical night of honor, glitz, and
a "disco-mania" good time! We are
further delighted that Showtime
at the Apollo's Ray Chew is
on board as our music director. Ray Chew and
the Crew have been involved with many of our
inductees in the past so we are thrilled to
offer LIVE performances this year! The
Gala features the Induction Ceremony, an Inductee
Reception, a Silent Auction which features
“first pressings” of the songs being inducted
made available from a personal collection
and more. Also on tap this year,
is a week of activities which includes a Community
Block Party, The Dance Music Hall of Fame
Seminar Tour to an area performing arts middle
school and college campus. Stage management
will come from Events Inc's Peter
Herman".
The
Dance Music Hall of Fame further announces
that it will again this year support LIFEbeat
– the music industry fights AIDS .
A portion of all proceeds will benefit the
not for profit organization. According to
Board of Director member Eddie O'Loughlin,
“The Dance Music Hall of Fame is developing
successfully in our 2nd year as we expand
to the Manhattan Center on September 19th
after a sell out debut in the first year.
Some of the artists nominated this year to
include; Gloria Gaynor, KC and The Sunshine
Band, and Chaka Khan are still popular and
relevant through live sellout performances
worldwide as is last years inductee, Donna
Summer. Further, The Dance Music Hall of Fame
is producing seminars in schools to spread
the importance and history of these pioneers
whose records are sampled and heard on the
radio through current hits and commercials".
LIFEbeat
is dedicated to reaching America's youth with
the message of HIV/AIDS prevention and strives
to cultivate a strong sense of self-worth
and self- respect in youth to help them resist
negative influences that may lead to engagement
in risky behaviors. LIFEbeat further mobilizes
the talents and resources of the music industry
to raise awareness and to provide support
to the AIDS community. For more information
